Christian Bale and Brad Pitt Wall Street Drama; ‘The Big Short’ to be Released this December to Bid for Oscars; Watch the Trailer Here

The new Wall Street drama movie based on Michael Lewis's book "The Big Short," starring the peculiar tandem of Christian Bale and Brad Pitt, will have an early release this year in December to be able to join the Oscars.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the film took the slot of Oliver Stone's Snowden, which moved out of its Christmas frame to 2016.

'The Big Short' also features Melissa Leo, Marisa Tomei, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling and Finn Wittrock. It was not expected to be released until 2016.

The movie follows the adventure of the men who made millions from a global economic meltdown, and those who tried to put an end to it.

Christian Bale portrays Michael Burry, a doctor who analyzed the bond market, whereas Brad Pitt portrays Ben Hockett, who worked with others to create a hedge fund and decided to go in contradiction of the thinking of Wall Street when making financial decisions. Steve Carell plays Steve Eisman, a hedge-fund manager who bet against subprime mortgages when making decisions with his money. Meanwhile, Ryan Gosling portrays Greg Lippmann, a trader.

The four outsiders saw what the big banks, media and government refused to acknowledge about the problems on Wall Street before the events of 2008 occurred, they had an idea: the big short. Their bold investment led them into the dark underbelly of modern banking, where they had to question everyone and everything.

'The Big Short' will square off against five other releases during its Christmas release. These includes two adult-skewing dramas: the 'Concussion' starring Will Smith, and 'Joy' featuring the chemistry of David O. Russell and Jennifer Lawrence.

Also opening that weekend are comedy films 'Daddy's Home', 'Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip' and the remake of 'Point Break'. 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' will be in its second weekend in theaters.
