‘Super Mario Maker’ Update: Nintendo Hints Another DLC For The Game

Avid fans and gamers of "Super Mario Maker" can expect a new free downloadable content. This is after a leaked photo has surfaced on Thursday, saying that the game's first wave of DLC will be in the form of 8-bit costumes, a report from iDigital Times said.

"Super Mario Maker is definitely getting DLC, although the only confirmed downloadable tidbit so far is probably going to be Japan-exclusive. As revealed in the pages of the legendary Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu, the magazine's mascot Nekki is coming to Super Mario Maker. Details haven't been revealed yet," the report said.

The report on the game's upcoming DLC was also announced by a Twitter user named Kyle McLain. "The mascot character of Famitsu, 'Nekki' is coming to Super Mario Maker. Details to be announced later," he tweeted.

Nintendo Life reports that the game's "Necky the Fox" DLC was created by a popular artist named Susumu Matsushita. It was said that the character DLC was actually the magazine's popular mascot.

Necky or Nekki (spelled in Japanese), can be seen in the magazine's front cover wearing various costumes. It was, however, pointed out that the upcoming DLC will only be exclusive to Japan, as the character is not known to other countries.

"Costumes, however, are probably my favorite extra in Mario Maker, which provide players with a way to morph into other characters like Sonic, Pac-Man, or Mega Man. They're unlocked by way of amiibo, or another method I'll get to shortly, and have some unique animations and sound effects in tow, like Pac-Man's shift to an 8-bit sprite when he runs. Sadly, all of these costumes are limited to the 8-bit style only. The more you play it, the more you'll realize that limitations are a recurring issue with Super Mario Maker, despite its immense charm," a review by a by a gamer states, as published in Destructoid, describing the costumes DLC as the best part of the video game.
