"Reign" Season 3 might be the last season for the queens as it was reported that the show is now facing possible cancellation.
According to Christian Post, the ratings of the show have been gloomy, and the network is planning to cancel the series after Season 3.
According to the site, Season 3 has only 18 episodes unlike the previous seasons where it had 22. The source claims that the possible renewal or cancellation of the show will be revealed in May 2016, and it may depend on the ratings of the upcoming season since the show was also moved to Friday nights.
It was earlier reported that Season 3 will feature a battle of the queens, specifically between Mary, Queen of Scots (Adelaide Kane) and Queen Elizabeth I of England (Rachel Skarsten). It was also reported that Catherine de'Medici (Megan Follows) will be conspiring with Elizabeth for Mary's downfall.
Meanwhile, the fans are also wondering what will happen between Mary and Prince Francis (Toby Regbo). Mary's relationship with Francis will be another problem for her since at the end of Season 2, the couple's relationship seemed to be in big trouble after Mary's affair with Louis Conde (Sean James Teale).
According to Crossmap, showrunner Lauri McCarthy explained in an earlier interview that Mary will still have feelings of loyalty to Conde but she will realize that it definitely is not love. McCarthy added that Mary only turned to Conde because at that moment she needed somebody.
The showrunner also revealed that it was Mary's way of avoiding her feelings for Francis, and she will reportedly regret and feel remorse over she has done. It was said that Mary will face a difficult time this season as she reportedly still feels some of the pain from her experiences that she endured this year.
"Reign" Season 3 will premiere on October 9.
