Hathaway's Ex Pardon: Raffaello Follieri Swindled Millions From Investors and Now Seeks Presidential Pardon

Last week, President Barack Obama issued 17 convicted felons the presidential pardon, mainly for small-scale offenses. Now Anne Hathaway's ex-boyfriend, Raffaello Follieri, also wants to a pardon, reported Inquisitr.

In 2008, Follieri was arrested in a high-profile fraud case where he swindled investors out of millions of dollars. He was eventually sentenced to four and a half years in prison. Hathaway at the time had no idea he was defrauding people, he even accompanied her to award shows before his transactions were uncovered.

While Follieri is out of prison, he's not permitted to enter the United States. He is currently residing in London, reported News.au.

"He must be dying that he's missing the limelight," said a source to New York Post. "He misses America, and when he gets enough money he wants to lobby for a presidential pardon."

Hathaway has since moved on. She won an Oscar for her portrayal of Fantine in "Les Miserables," and is married to Adam Shulman, a low-profile actor and jewelry designer.

"I am very much in love with him, [only] Adam totally ruined my plan," Hathaway told People, "I was really actually looking forward to a little alone time, and then I fell in love like a fool!"

The couple tied the knot in September last year and she didn't forget to thank him at her award acceptance speech.

"I want to thank my husband," she said. "By far the best moment of life was when you walked into it."

Follieri, dated Hathaway from 2004 to 2008. According to Inquisitr, he's having trouble finding investors for a new business.

"He claims to be purchasing an energy company in Switzerland," a source told the Post. "He's having a hard time getting cash. He can't figure out why, duh."

According to NBC, Follieri disguised himself as a Vatican representative and gathered $6 million from a variety of wealthy real estate investors.
