When Pope Francis visits the U.S., he will have a busy schedule. The most awaited event is the mass that will be held in Madison Square Garden on Friday, Sept. 25. The event will feature the musical talents of Harry Connick Jr., Gloria Estefan and Jennifer Hudson.
According to Connick's website, the Pope will hold a mass at 6 p.m. at Madison Square Garden. The Archdiocese of New York will make a presentation called "A Journey in Faith'' for the Catholics, which will start three hours before the scheduled mass. The presentation will feature musical performances. Other entertainers who will perform in this celebration include Martin Sheen, Kelli O'Hara, James "D Train'' Williams and Norm Lewis. The pre-mass presentation will last about two hours.
According to HNGN, the chair that the Pope will sit on is handcrafted by immigrant day laborers at Don Bosco Workers Day Labor Center in Port Chester, N.Y. The altar that will be used for the mass at the Madison Square Garden was built by young men at Lincoln Hall Boys Haven.
Pope Francis will meet on Friday with the United Nations General Assembly and hold a multi-religious service at the 9/11 memorial.
When the Pope leaves NYC on Saturday, he will make his final stop in the U.S. in Philadelphia.
HNGN also reported that on Tuesday, Pope Francis landed in the nation's capital, as President Obama welcomed him to the White House alongside the entire Obama family.
Pope Francis will be spending all of Wednesday and some of Thursday in Washington before he departs for New York City on Thursday afternoon. Upon arrival in New York, he will hold an evening prayer at the historic St. Patrick's Cathedral. On Friday, the Pope will visit the 9/11 memorial and later that night, he will hold the most-talked about event of his trip, a mass at Madison Square Garden.
