Major changes will be happening in "The Simpsons" as it returns for Season 27 this Sunday.
According to Christian Post, executive producer Al Jean confirmed this in an interview and revealed that now that Homer and Maggie are legally separated, Homer will be involved with someone else. According to Jean, Homer was diagnosed with narcolepsy, and this is also one reason why the longtime couple separated.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Homer's new love interest is a pharmacist, and his new woman will be voiced by "Girls" star Lena Dunham. According to the report, Homer's new girlfriend is a twenty-something woman named Candace. Homer reportedly falls in love with Candace while filling his prescription for his illness.
In the sneak peek for the episode titled "Every Man's Dream," Candace can be seen talking to her friends who are skeptical about her attraction to Homer. It was reported that Candace's friends will be voiced by Dunham's co-stars in "Girls," Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, and Zosia Mamet.
Jean hinted in an interview with the site that there will be a lot of twists in this story and that it is not just the typical marriage crisis which can be seen in the previous seasons.
Meanwhile, Jean also teased other major changes in the season and revealed that Spider Pig will be making his return to the show. He also revealed that they have an episode which is based on the film "Boyhood," which is a kind of a flashback and fastforward story about Bart. He added that they will be going to different points in his life and he is happy that that episode came out well.
In his interview, he also revealed the possibility of Bart being killed by Sideshow Bob in the new season. Jean revealed that Bart's archenemy will finally get his hands on him, and he expressed his excitement over that episode.
Season 27 of "The Simpsons" will premiere on Fox on September 27.
