After staying almost two weeks in his mother's homeland, the Philippines, Jordan Clarkson has finally returned to his home team, the L.A. Lakers. This return of Clarkson does not only mean a physical return, but it likewise implies mental and spiritual return in preparation for the upcoming NBA 2015-2016 season. This time around, Jordan Clarkson means business, especially that Los Angeles Lakers has been eyeing on him as the potential cornerstone of the team, following the so-called post Kobe success era. On an interview with bleacherreport Clarkson then stated that, "I've got a chip on my shoulder in terms of everything that's happened this summer and even me getting drafted."
This upcoming 2015-2016 NBA season, Clarkson would be joined by the No. 2 pick in the 2015 draft, D'Angelo Russell and Lou Williams, the reigning Sixth Man of the Year. And of course, Kobe's return would also serve as reinforcement for the Lakers team. Clarkson, together with the other key players, would have to step up their game especially that last year was the worst campaign for Lakers-- even dubbed as the worst campaign in franchise history.
Clarkson, who averages 14 to 16 points per 36 minute game as a rookie, has been honing his outside shots lately with the help of his longtime trainer Drew Hanlen. Aside from an expected game time competition with the entry of newly drafted rookies, Clarkson is pushing himself to the limits in order to win. According to bleacherreport, Clarkson stated:
"Just win. That's it. Do whatever it takes to win some games. Last year wasn't fun, losing and stuff, so definitely want to win some games."
In his sophomore year in the upcoming NBA 2015-2016 season, a sharp shooting Clarkson is to be expected by Los Angeles Lakers' fans. For his trainer Hanlen stated that "We just have been perfecting his shot, making sure he's going straight up and down, making sure his balance is perfect." And even Clarkson with his statement claimed that, "I feel I'm becoming a better shooter."
But it is still far away to make some speculations and profound conclusions about what would happen to Jordan Clarkson and his team as they make their comeback this coming 2015-2016 NBA season. What are your expectations from Jordan Clarkson and the L.A Lakers? Do you think they will have a strong start and stronger finish, especially now that Kobe Bryant is back?
