The "Iron Man" actor owned the Hollywood Hills estate, which spans a total of 4,116 square feet, between the years 1989 to 1994. The 47-year-old former bad boy met and dated "Sex & The City" leading-lady Sarah Jessica Parker, which ultimately ended because of Downey's drug addiction. That didn't stop him from jumping to his first wife, actress and singer, Deborah Falconer, which ended after a 42-day-period of wedding bliss.
Downey's former home located at 1494 North Kings Road, Los Angeles Calif. has 3 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, all of which are renovated. It was originally owned by Charlie Chaplin, the famous comedian whom Downey portrayed in the movie "Chaplin."
He received his first Academy Award Best Actor nomination for the role, and it probably helped that he connected with his inner Chaplin as he lived in Chaplin's former estate.
The Spanish-styled estate revealed the 1920s era that Chaplin dominated. According to the listing agency, The Altman Brothers, the home overlooks the Sunset Strip and is a short distance from the best restaurants, stores and nightlife.
"Beautifully restored and updated for modern living, this home is warm and welcoming allowing for both daily living and intimate gatherings," said the listing.
Another previous owner of the home was "E! Fashion Police" judge Kelly Osborne. Osborne resided in the estate during the mid-2000s.
The Hills home boasts lots of natural light and doesn't hide the contrasting dark hardwood floors. Exposed beams line the living room ceiling of the house, which also includes a dining room with French doors, a patio and a large chef's kitchen.
You can say you got the California life when you see yourself in this master suite that carries high ceilings and includes two bathrooms, several closets, lounging space, and a gorgeous view of the city from the French doors. The welcoming backyard is great for quality entertainment times, as the "Iron Man" does a pretty good job of these days.
