The small cottage is actually where "The Boss" penned down the words to his entire breakthrough album, "Born to Run."

"One day I was playing guitar on the edge of the bed working on some song ideas and the words 'born to run' came to me," said Springsteen in his "Wings for Wheels: The Making of Born to Run" 2005 documentary.

It's hard to imagine this humble Jersey Shore abode spoke to Springsteen and inspired him to write the hits that sprouted him into Rock's hall of fame. It's now listed with Keller Williams Realty with an asking price of $349,000.

The realtor, Susan McLaughlin, described the cottage as a single family home, with 2 bedrooms and 1 bath, according to her website. The estate spans 828-square-feet and McLaughlin is wise to mention the cottage is one block, or 86 steps by count, from the beach path. She also recalls Springsteen as the resident between 1974 to 1975, and while he did have two studio albums out he still maintained the local celebrity persona. The "Born to Run" album was what actually sparked his career.

The traditional shotgun-style home, located on 7 1/2 West End Court, Long Branch is a landmark of its own. It has a living room and kitchen. It was built in 1920 and includes a front porch, back patio, and a small yard, which is fenced-in.

Currently, are three co-owners, reported CNBC, who bought the home back in 2009 for only $280,000. Now the only resident is planning to move out because he plans on getting married.  The other two partners and he are taking the role of finding the next responsible owner of this gem.

In an interview with CNBC, the three co-owners, who wished to be unidentified, said they did a major renovation after they bought the home, which including repairing a damaged side wall, putting in hardwood flooring, installing a several ceiling fans and hardwood floors, as well as upgrading the bathroom and heating system.

"Hopefully whoever gets it next will do something to keep the Springsteen factor alive." He said he wouldn't sell the cottage to someone who intended to tear it down.
