'Blackberry' Android Update: Forget 'Venice'-- 'Priv' is Phone's New Name

For some time now, rumors of the new BlackBerry Android slider phone has been in circulation. Part of those rumors is the phone's name which is "Venice". In line with this, @evleaks has previously posted what appears to be promo pics of the so called "BlackBerry Venice". And now, here comes what claims to be real world photos of the BlackBerry Android phone with a slider QWERTY pad. Moreover, it now has a different name. As what Evan Blass or @evleaks said on September 23, "At retail, Venice transforms into the... BlackBerry Priv."

As previously rumored, this BlackBerry Priv, will run with Snapdragon 808 processor, 3GB of RAM, and a 5.4-inch QHD curved glass screen. Moreover, according to Tech Radar, as an Android phone it will have access to Google Play and Play Store apps. As for the camera, there are rumors that Venice or "Priv" will have an 18MP rear camera with optical image stabilization. If it's true then it will be very impressive compared to BlackBerry Passport's 13MP rear camera. On the other hand there are no details about the front camera yet but leaked pictures show that there is one. Hopefully the front camera in this device will measure up to the front cameras of other leading Android units. With all those rumored specs, it sounds like BlackBerry Venice, or Priv, will not come cheap. One could be looking at a price around, $599 according to TechRadar.

Needless to say, "Priv" sounds awkward since we have already grown accustomed to calling this rumored BlackBerry Android Phone "Venice". According to Endgadget, the reason behind the new moniker is the added privacy features.

We will soon find out once this phone is already released. If it's a very good phone then any name would probably fine. Which name do you think sounds more appropriate? Moreover, what do you think of the specs?
