Nine models left in America's Next Top Model Cycle 22 but only seven will reach the next round of competition with double elimination in ANTM's eighth episode.
Bello Sanchez and Courtney DuPerow were sent home after failing to excel in this week's challenge and photoshoot.
For the challenge, the models were brought in a high school science laboratory to promote STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics). Tyra explained that women are not fairly represented in this field, with men getting paid higher than them. So the task is to promote STEM through as six-second Vine video in terms of power, money and respect. The special guest is Brittany Furlan, a Vine celebrity, who knows everything about making a six-second video.
The models were divided into three groups and were given an hour to shoot their videos at the school. Bello, Devin and Courtney picked power. Nyle, Lacey and Justin, money. And Mikey, Hadassah and Mamé, respect.
Team power's concept is that Courtney gets bullied over being a STEM nerd, which kind of relate Courtney's childhood experience being thrown into bushes in school. Bello got irritated because Courtney started complaining about everything. But things got a little more disastrous when Bello accidentally deleted their Vines with just two minutes left for the challenge. Bottom line though is that they failed to convey the intended message and the kids said they have no idea what's happening in their video. Bello blamed Courtney's acting, despite him having the fault of deleting their shots.
Team money's output was okay, despite the challenge of making it silent, but Team respect aced the challenge.
For the photoshoot, the models had to pose like life-size dolls. Tyra gave them a quick Smize and doll joints lesson before they were each assigned a theme.
Courtney doesn't seem to know what "Fierce Fashion" mean, admitting that she hasn't seen Italian Vogue or any Vogue at all, thus failing to strike the desired pose. Bello's doll pose should be "Ugly Pretty Punk" but his eyes were just dead and his growl in the photoshoot didn't work. Nyle's package is fine, says Miss J. and Lacey nailed the booty tooch. Tyra likes Hadassah's shot except that her face is blank. Tyra compliments Justin, saying tan looked good on him.
Who's still in the running towards becoming America's next top model? In order-Lacey, Nyle, Justin, Mikey, Hadassah, Mamé, and Devin, who was at the bottom three with Courtney and Bello.
Bello just left without hugging or saying goodbye to anyone.
