‘Quantico’ Cast, Review: Bollywood Actress Priyanka Chopra Star ABC’s New TV Series

Famous Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra headlines ABC's newest TV series "Quantico."

"Quantico," ABC's new espionage drama TV series will air its first episode on Sunday and it will feature one of India's biggest stars Priyanka Chopra. According to Vanity Fair, Chopra will portray female FBI recruit Alex Parrish who the actress said is the "female Jason Bourne." The Bollywood icon is described as charismatic with her manager calling her demeanor "international swag." The pilot episode will show flashbacks as to how Parrish came to be an FBI agent while revolving around a woman who is being accused of a hand in terrorism and wants to clear her name.

In the same report by Vanity Fair, Chopra, who gained fame as a former Miss World title holder talks about her character in the series, "Alex could've been from any country actually. She could've been Yugoslavian, British, she could've been of any race, and that's the beauty of this--it's ethnically ambiguous." She proceeds to described Parrish as half-Indian, half-white American. "The beauty of Alex is that she's someone little girls can look up to and say, 'Hey, that's a cool part," she added.

Meanwhile, in a post by Mashable, Chopra discussed the roles she loves to play. According to her, she likes to play characters that showcase "women in an empowered light." She also adds that she doesn't like playing the "damsel in distress" type of roles which she admits is not her style. She points to her role in "Dil Dhadakne Do" as feminine but still showed strength and the ability to stand on her own.

Chopra is also hoping that her "Quantico" role will go on to be recognized as part of the wave of female heroines who have become television icons like Meredith Grey of "Grey's Anatomy" and "Homeland's" Carrie.
