‘Black-ish’ Star Anthony Anderson’s Wife Files a Divorce

It has been confirmed that Anthony Anderson's wife Alvina Stewart has filed a divorce from her husband on Friday, Sept. 25, just 20 years after getting married.

Anthony and Alvina were high school sweethearts and have two children together, 19-year-old Kyra and 15-year-old Nathan. They tied the knots in 1995.

According to Gossip Cop, Alvina has irreconcilable differences as the reason for wanting to be separated from her husband Anthony. Alvina is seeking joint legal custody and physical custody for their son Nathan. Reasonable visitation rights will be allowed for Anderson. His wife is also seeking spousal support. Alvina indicated the date of separation as April 1, 2014 so it is unclear whether she will claim "Black-ish" money which premiered way after that, Sept. 24, 2014, TMZ reported.

He stars on ABC's comedy series "Black-ish" where he portrays a role of a happily married man. The actor also currently hosts "Carnival Cravings with Anthony Anderson" on the Food Network.

Gossip Cop said the couple was last seen publicly together in February 2014 and that they've actually been separated since April that year. The divorce explains why Anthony was not joined by his wife in the recent Emmys Primetime 2015. His son accompanied him in the red carpets and, as Hollywood Life reported, the father and son look to be in good terms despite the marital issues. The actor posted on Instagram an adorable photo with his son with a caption that read, "Gotta make sure we look good, dammit! Son @not_nathaniel and I at the #Emmys."

On Sept. 23, Anthony posted another photo captioned with, "I love my family, I love my job, I love my life. THAT is why I am successful" as part of his Strayer University petition. He has not commented yet on his wife's divorce filing.

Meanwhile, "Black-ish" Season 2 premiered on Wednesday, Sept. 23 on ABC.
