Nowadays, when it comes to smart phones, there is one brand that has put an end to the stigma that cheap means low quality. Motorola, now owned by Lenovo, has come with a smart phone model that is prettier, faster and has many improved features that can compete with top of the line flagships even though it was not intended to do so. So here comes most recent Moto G version.
Based on the review published in Neurogadget, the third generation Moto G, in terms of design, may not be very attractive but many fans find it visually appealing. It still has the same Moto X style which is made of plastic and has lines running across the surface. In addition, it has a pseudo metal plate around the camera. It comes with standard white and black colors, but the Moto G is customizable in a sense that you can select a different color for your phone and you can even add your name to the back.
But the most impressive innovation to its design is its water-resistance property. Moto G makes up for it lack of aesthetics by making it more durable. The actual dimensions of the phone are 142.1 x 72.4 x 11.6 mm and a weight of 155 grams.
In terms of performance, the Moto G is now armed with quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 engine with Snapdragon 410 processor and new Cortex-A53 CPU with a clock speed of 1.4GHz. This means that it is faster than the previous Motorola flagships. For its OS, it runs on Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop). These specs pretty much works for the user's basic smartphone needs.
There are just a few downsides which may not be much of a big deal for some. Motorola still uses the same 5-inch IPS LCD touch panel with a 294 PPI 720 x 1280 pixel resolution. The contrast and brightness may be okay but slight pixilation may be noticed but not too obvious and the colors are slightly washed out according to Neurogadget. As for the camera, it is said to take average quality pictures because despite having a 13MP rear camera, it is not equipped with a software that can maximize image quality. But for taking selfies, the 5MP front camera takes decent pictures.
Overall, the phone is durable, fast, and visually appealing. It can perform the basic tasks expected of a smartphone just don't expect it to be able to play 3D games, or exceptionally good pictures and good graphics. Nevertheless it is good enough considering that it costs around $180.
