‘Blindspot’ Episode 1 Review: NBC New Drama Series Gets Impressive Ratings

NBC's "Blindspot" finally aired after some delays and judging by its recorded viewer rating, the show made quite an impressive debut.

"Blindspot" aired its pilot episode on Monday and was warmly received by fans and critics alike. It became NBC's first drama series to register growth in demos and the total number of people who watched the show. According to Variety, it is the first time this happened since "The Voice" was initially shown on television. Along with "The Big Bang Theory", "Blindspot" is among the top two in the 18-49 bracket in Nielsen's live plus-3 surveys. This included DVR for three days plus video-on-demand. NBC's latest offering rose by 1.33 points or 43 percent.

The show also became the number one drama in Live+3 after "Empire" finale episode on its first season run in March. The 1.33-point increase is also the largest number for a debuting TV series since January when "Empire" was launched.

Meanwhile, in report by TV.com, "Blindspot" is about a woman who is mysteriously dumped right in the center of Times Square in a duffel bag. Fearing a bomb could be inside the bag, the crowded square is immediately evacuated by the police. It is then revealed that a human is inside the bag and she is alive. The woman is naked with her body covered in fresh tattoos.

The FBI is called in to investigate and the case falls on FBI agent Kurt Weller who discovers that her tattoos provide clues to a conspiracy. It is also shown that the nameless woman has special knowledge of languages and was a sniper in the Special Forces. It is also pointed out that the woman suffers from amnesia and struggles to remember details about her identity and past. It is still early but many critics compare the new series to "The Blacklist" in terms of plot and pacing of its storyline.
