"Want a free phone? We'll give you one. We'll even throw in an extra $100. Just ditch your iPhone." This seems to be what Samsung's latest promo is saying.
Samsung is offering to pay your monthly installment bill until 2016 if you buy a phone under a TMobile, Sprint, Verizon, or US Cellular plan. AT&T is not participating in the promo. According to the official promo details, this applies for Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy Note 5, and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.
Business Insider explains that a Galaxy S6 plan on Verizon typically costs $24 per month for 24 months. With the promo, you get a free pass on the monthly installment bills until 2016, with a rebate cap of $120.
A sweet bonus also awaits all iPhone defectors. If you sign up for a new Samsung phone and register your iPhone details on Samsung's website, you get an additional $100 Google Play gift card.
This aggressive marketing promo coincides with Apple's launch of their new iPhone 6s. This may be another one of Samsung's plan get more users, particularly aimed at luring Apple loyalists to switch allegiance. According to The Verge, despite positive reviews for its Galaxy S6 and Note 5, Samsung "has faced an uphill battle" in the phone market. The Verge noted that Samsung has even lowered the retail price of S6 and S6 Edge just months after their launch.
Meanwhile, Samsung's newest commercial shows off one of the things their phones have that even the new iPhone 6s doesn't -- wireless charging. The ad, entitled "It's Not a Phone; It's a Galaxy," takes a stab at the iPhone's own ad called "If It's Not an iPhone, It's Not an iPhone."
With Samsung's impressive phone lineup and a tempting new offer, will consumers stop biting the Apple? Promo runs until Oct. 9.
