'iOS 8' vs 'iOS 9' Comparison, Features: Should You Upgrade? Siri Is Improved, Multi Tasking Became Possible, And Spotlight Search Is Upgraded

Apple users may have already known that updating their OS can result to all sorts of disadvantages especially if they are using an older Apple device. It may mean constant lags, annoying battery life, and even unpleasant changes to its looks and screen colors.

So now that iOS 9 came out, the question is, is it worth all the risks? Well, it did improve al lot of things. Here are some iOS 9 changes to give you an idea on what awaits you if you upgrade.

iOS 9 Siri

Siri is said to be 40% faster and 40% more powerful in the latest update. The searches would be quicker and Siri is more 'contextually' aware.

Also, the 'Hey Siri' option is a big addition to the virtual assistant feature of the Apple device. If you turn the 'Hey Siri' option on, you would be able to activate Siri just by saying "Hey Siri" when your iPhone is charging. All you have to do is enable the option and go through the calibration and testing process by talking to Siri and saying the required phrases.

iOS 9 Search

The swiping to the leftest left to see the search option is now back with a treat. Swiping down to do a search is still possible, but if you swipe to the farthest left, you won't only see a search bar but also a set of suggestions from Siri. It will include recent contacts, recent apps, and all other things Siri deems important to you.

iOS 9 Battery improvements

Battery life is a big issue for Apple users. It is a rare event that an iPhone lasts an entire busy day without needing a recharge. This is one thing that Apple wants to change. A 'Low Power' mode feature is being introduced in the iOS 9 and it aims to help battery powers that are hanging by a thread. When your phone is having a low battery, a 'Low Power mode' activation pops up and when turned on, it drops the screen brightness and slows down downloads and notifications, allowing you to take out a few more minutes from your phone when charging isn't an option. One fun but useless change that comes with this option is that the battery bar above turns yellow when this mode is activated.

iOS 9 Multi Tasking

Multi tasking is something that the iOS is not naturally inclined with, but the iOS 9 update may have allowed the Apple devices to go beyond its comfort zone. First, the split screen apps allow for two applications to run side by side. This is available for devices such as the iPad Air 2 and up. Next, the Slide Over view. This allows you to take a glance at another window. However, this is only available for the iPad Air, iPad Mini 2, and other higher gadgets. Another multi tasking action the iOS 9 can do is the Picture in Picture that allows a tiny window to float and be constantly displayed while you move through the OS.

There are many more new iOS 9 features, but so far these may be the biggest changes made by the company. So far, as a conclusion, the update might actually be worth it. The battery improvement can save you from your worry of power over usage.
