Apple Admits Third Problem of iOS 9: App Slicing Currently Not Available

After the release of their newest operating system for their products, Apple admitted that they have found another problem to their iOS 9. The problem found is regarding their newest feature, the App Slicer. This is the third problem encountered by the newest and most innovative operating system of Apple.

Apple has admitted the problem and posted it on their website.

"App slicing is currently unavailable for iOS 9 apps due to an issue affecting iCloud backups created from iOS 9, where some apps from the App Store would only restore to the same model of iOS device.

When a customer downloads your iOS 9 app, they will get the Universal version of your app, rather than the variant specific for their device type. TestFlight will continue to deliver variants for your internal testers. App slicing will be re-enabled with a future software update. No action is needed by you at this time."

Apple App Slicing is the newest feature of Apple available to iOS 9 that allows the App Store of the users to identify what Apple device they are using and only download files that are necessary to their device.

According to Forbes, "Before App Slicing in iOS 9, devices simply had to download the app files for every type of device: iPad variants, iPhone variants or iPod touch variants, which meant a lot of wasted space. How much space? Potentially between 20 to 40 percent when downloading new apps."

The other problems that surfaced during the launch of the new iOS 9 are download failures and upgrade problems. Apple has been fast in solving such problems. They released a patch dubbed as iOS 9.0.1 to fix some bugs in their new operating system. Some of the most notable bugs found in the latest iOS is the 'slide to upgrade freeze.'

The new patch iOS 9.0.1 doesn't offer the solution to the problem of App Slicing, but Apple has promised to make it available in the 'future software updates.'
