Chris Brown's tour to Australia may be canceled due to his assault conviction in 2009. Some reports claim that the father of one's Australian visa application had been denied on Friday, Sept. 25.
The recent move of Australia to ban the rapper from entering the country supports the government's protest on violence against women. However, Brown's tour can still happen because he was given 28 days to explain his side on why they should issue him a visa. According to Immigration Minister Chris Dutton, the "Loyal" singer was given the Notice of Intention to Consider Refusal, Daily Mail reports.
When asked about Brown's tour in December, the Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull claimed, "This is a government that is not afraid to say no." Turnbull went to add, "The American singer Chris Brown strangled and beat up his then girlfriend Rihanna, he is set to visit Australia in December, but isn't allowed to enter New Zealand, why should he be allowed to enter the country?"
Despite the hindrance on Brown's tour, his concert tickets still went on sale today. A rep for the 26-year-old rapper claimed that they're hoping that he can still go on with his December gig given that he already visited Australia two times since 2009. Apart from that, they added that they're expecting that the government will see "his continued personal growth," SMH reports. His team also dismissed the allegations that his visa has been denied.
Meanwhile, strong supporters of the "Love More" singer gathered to request the Australian government to allow him to enter the country for his shows. A total of 3,200 fans protested to show their support to the singer. However, though he has Aussie supporters, there's also an activist group, GetUp, which urges the government to prevent Rihanna's ex-boyfriend from entering the country. GetUp stands to protect women from violence against abusive men.
The final decision on Brown's Australian visa is still unknown as of this writing. However, as previously mentioned, his concert tickets in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane have been on sale today during lunch time. Ticket prices range from $100.93 to $508.73.
