"Arrow" Season 4 will feature the return of Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), and he could affect Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) and Oliver's (Stephen Amell) budding relationship.
In an interview with TV Line, executive producer Wendy Mericle said that the emotional return of Ray will have an impact on Felicity.
"It will be a huge emotional reveal, especially for Felicity. It's more of an emotional reaction to the loss of a friend than any sort of romantic rival. She's very happy with Oliver when we come back in Season 4, but she and Ray were friends and they left on good terms. It's more just the relief of, 'Oh my gosh, I thought you were gone and now you're not.' How exciting is that?'"
In Season 3, Felicity thought that Ray died, and she was even tasked to take over Palmer Technologies. During the final scene in Season 3's finale episode, Oliver decided to leave the Arrow team behind to be with Felicity. According to him, he can never be with both, so that time he chose the woman that he truly loves.
However, it has been revealed that Oliver will eventually return to Starling City, and he wouldn't be at peace with the fact that he's not helping his team in taking down the bad guys. Fans are now wondering how Oliver will balance working as the Arrow and being Felicity's boyfriend.
In other news, actress Elysia Rotaru has been cast to appear in multiple episodes of "Arrow" Season 4. Fans of Olicity are worried that the new character could serve as a love triangle for Oliver and Felicity.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Marc Guggenheim said that Rotaru's character will appear in a series of flashbacks.
"Arrow" Season 4 will premiere on The CW on Oct. 7.
