Fans of "New Girl" Season 5 are reportedly unhappy to know that Megan Fox has been cast to temporarily replace Zooey Deschanel on the hit FOX series.
According to Dispatch, Fox will play the role of a smart and gorgeous pharmaceutical representative who will rent out Jess' loft while she is away. Since Jess is living with her male housemates, these guys will get up close and personal with Fox's character.
Some fans reportedly believe that FOX's attempt at ensuring fans will continue to watch "New Girl" in Deschanel's absence will not work to their favor. According to Movie Pilot, fans believe that Fox could actually get the attention of the guys on the show, so when Jess returns, some viewers of "New Girl" might want to see more of Fox's character.
Meanwhile, some people also believe that Fox shouldn't have been cast to join "New Girl" because she is not the best actress to star in comedy shows. Deschanel's humor is also very different from that of Fox, and Deschanel's humor is what gets "New Girl" going for the past five seasons now.
However, "New Girl" executive producer Liz Meriweather gushed over Fox joining the series in multiple episodes.
"It's insane to me that such a gorgeous person can be so funny, but I guess we just all have to accept it. I've been a fan of her comedic skills since 'This is 40,' and I'm so excited to have her on the show," she said.
In other news, "New Girl" Season 5 will premiere with the episode "No Girl," which means that the storyline will be all about the male characters on the show. As of late, Deschanel is still on maternity leave, so the production for the upcoming season will only begin next month.
"New Girl" Season 5 will premiere on FOX sometime next year.
