‘The Simpsons’ Season 27 Pilot Recap: Homer and Marge Split

"The Simpsons" aired its premiere episode of season 27 and it confirmed rumors that Homer and Marge decided to split up.

Season 27 of "The Simpsons" kicked off with Marge finally giving up on Homer who has become narcoleptic and is refusing to take care of himself. According to Mashable, Marge decided to take Homer to a marriage counselor hoping that a relationship expert can talk sense to him. However, once they get to their appointment, Homer falls asleep and the therapist tells Marge that their relationship is hopeless and that the only solution is for them to separate and then eventually file for a divorce. She takes this advice to heart and decides to leave her husband.

It all becomes even more complicated when Homer gets drunk and ended in bed with a pharmacist named Lena Dunham who turned out be Candace. The two get close with each other until Candace decides to invite Homer to meet her father who was bringing his new girlfriend. It is later revealed that Candace's father's girlfriend is none other than Marge.

In a recap by Comicbook.com, the matter gets even worse when Candace's dad decided to propose to Marge over dinner. Candace got mad when she learned that her father was taking care of Marge's kids Bart, Lisa and Maggie. And as if it was not messy enough, Candace also tells Homer that she is pregnant with his child.

At this point, Homer finally wakes up and finds himself in the counseling session with Marge. He is happy that it was all a bad dream. Homer then asked Marge for time, specifically a month to show her that he can be good again. Thirty days passed and all is well, until it is shown that it was happening all over again. This time, it becomes Marge's dream. Finally, when she woke up, everything is concluded when it turned out that everything was just a scene from Hannah's tattoo on her back.
