Season 3 of Ray Donovan finally came to an end last Sunday. The finale surely left its viewers stunned and already excited for season 4.
One of the shocking revelations that were focused in the shows last minutes is the revelation of Schreiber's character, Ray Donovan, on the childhood sexual abuse he suffered at the hands of Father O'Connor. With this, according to TV Line, fans can expect "increased vulnerability" in Ray in Season 4. Other than that, the notable developments in the season finale included a ferocious highlight for Bridget's infatuation with Mr. Donellen and Terry being shot through which he came close to dying.
On the other hand, according to Variety, "secrets of a powerful L.A. family had an obvious logic to it" which is why some fans are reportedly not enticed with the idea of another season. Moreover, Variety pointed out the the female characters of the show were weakly written and that John Voight's character seemed to be the only one that is considered a scene stealer.
Nevertheless, the show has been renewed for another season and TV Line's interview with David Hollander, the new Showrunner, it was confirmed that Terry did not die. On the ther hand, Hollander has also revealed that the flirtation between Abby and Terry will not continue in Season 4 but he did not reveal much about what would become of Bridget's feelings for the Math teacher especially that on Season 4 Bridget would be about 18. And with regards to the Ray Donovan's confession of murder and psychological turmoil, Hollander said that the main character will have, "Increased vulnerability" and that "He's on a journey. He's facing some very hard questions, and we're going to challenge him with those questions and see what happen.
