The grueling loss the Cleveland Cavaliers experienced against the Golden State Warriors have lit up their 'rage' and they are ready to take up that built-up 'anger' and release it this season.
During the team's media appearance last Monday, as reported by ESPN, Cavs guard Kyrie Irving made it clear to the crowd that they are feeling a lot of rage over their defeat. "From me there's going to be a lot more rage, a lot more emotion," Irving said. "There won't be too much smiling or anything like that from our team. That's the mentality we have to have. We're looking forward to the challenge," he added.
Cavs star LeBron James shares the same sentiment as Irving. James recalled the experience he had during the finals loss as something similar to what he experienced when he was still with Miami Heat. "One thing that we did that didn't even need to be talked about after we lost our first year in Miami when we came back, [was] we were angry," James said. "We [were] very, very, very angry. And everybody that we went against knew it when we came back," he recounts.
James thinks that he became a burden for his team rather than being an asset. "The numbers that I put up in the Finals, I pretty much didn't care for [them] because I was so inefficient," James said. "It hurts me. It bothered me a lot," the athlete stressed.
Cavs doesn't plan to let go of the built-up rage in their system. They want to fester it and use it to fuel up their engines to trample other teams.
"I definitely expressed some of my feelings to my teammates and we all share the same feeling that we haven't forgotten," Irving said. "I haven't forgotten. ... We haven't forgotten what it took to get there and while we were there, the experience. But now it's getting better as a team and getting better and more prepared mentally for what the challenges are ahead for us," Irving concluded.
"My ultimate goal is to win a championship, and it starts now," said James, in a report by USA Today.
