'Empire' Season 2 Episode 2 Spoilers: Will Jamal Betray Luscious? Cookie Starts Her Own Label

In the second episode of "Empire" Season 2, it seems like Jamal Lyon (Jussie Smollett) might not be as tough as his dad after all.

According to iSchool Guide, after his father Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) was put in jail, Jamal is struggling to find time for his music, and his mother Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) is pressuring him to come home.

Christian Post reports that in an interview with showrunner Ilene Chaiken, she revealed that now that Jamal is the head of the Empire, he will have new responsibilities that he did not even wish for. According to the site, since he is an artist by heart, he does not see himself as someone who can assume responsibilities as head of the family business. It may also mean that he will be betraying his father's trust and leave the company for good to pursue what he really wants: to be an artist.

The official synopsis for episode 2 reveals that even if Jamal delves deeper into the family business and starts to be like his father, Luscious will still try to prove to people that he can manage the company even when he is behind bars. It was reported that Luscious will try to record a song while he is in jail. There are also speculations that a new lawyer will help Luscious to get out of jail.

Meanwhile, it was also reported that Cookie will be starting her own record label. According to reports, Cookie's record label will dominate the market and she will work hard to make it to the top even if it means competing with her husband and son. With her new venture, she will get the support of Anika (Grace Gealey), Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) and Andre (Trai Bryers).

"Empire" Season 2 episode 2 will air on Fox on September 30.
