When it comes to video gaming consoles, PlayStation or PS, as it is officially abbreviated, is one of the few established names in the gaming industry. Created and developed by Sony Computer Entertainment, this TV based gaming console has truly changed the video gaming experience of every gamer. However, when it comes to portable gaming consoles such as Sony's PlayStation vita, it seems like the company is having a second thought about it. Sony believes that a PlayStation Vital sequel is not good for the company as of the moment. It can be felt through the statement of their president Shuhei Yoshida as he was interviewed during Q&A portion of his just-finished EGX 2015 developer session. Yoshida then stated that;
"That's a tough question. People have mobile phones and it's so easy to play games on smartphones. And many games on smartphones are free, or free to start. I myself am a huge fan of PlayStation Vita and we worked really hard on designing every aspect. Touch-based games are fun - there are many games with really good design. But having sticks and buttons make things totally different. So I hope, like many of you, that this culture of playing portable games continues but the climate is not healthy for now because of the huge dominance of mobile gaming."
It is tough to comprehend that a gaming console giant like Sony would be stopping its PlayStation Vita sequel. It seems like Vita which means life has turned death in a marketing standard. The sudden stop for PlayStation Vita console if understood properly would imply a change of focus and interest of the company, especially with their shown interest with virtual reality or VR devices and their known lavished attention with TV based gaming console like PS3 and PS4.
But still, other gaming hopefuls are looking forward for a renewed life of PlayStation Vita and its possible sequel. Even though there might be a stop on PlayStation Vita Sequel due to its mobile gaming competitors, gamers are still expecting something new from Sony.
