'Samsung Galaxy A8' Review, Specs, Features: Samsung's Thinnest Smartphone

Well, the "Samsung Galaxy A8" does not need all the over-the-top specs like the other 2015 phones for it to become a crowd's favorite.

A8 is Samsung's thinnest smartphone so far and it seems like it has learned a lot from its Note 5 superior, although of course it cannot beat Note 5 when it comes to the Note's high end features, but one thing's certain, the A8 can beat the Note's popularity.

"Samsung Galaxy A8" is A-series' biggest handset. It has a 5.7" Super AMOLED screen, just like the latest Note devices. It has a resolution of 1080p with a PPI of 386. Although the resolution and pixels per inch measurement of A8 can't compete with the Note 5, it's specs aren't so bad as well. And like Samsung's higher phones, the "Samsung Galaxy A8" also has a metal frame, just a little bit lighter. It's thickness is only 5.9 mm, lower than other Samsung phones and maybe even lower than most phones on the market right now. Fortunately, the battery did not have to suffer due to its thinness. In fact, it can even beat Note 5 in this department.

As to the camera, the "Samsung Galaxy A8" does well too. It has a 16 MP back camera and a 5 MP front camera. However, it doesn't have the OIS feature. A8 has two variants: the 64 bit Snapdragon 615 chipset with octacore CPU and Adreno 405 GPU; and the 32 bit Exynos 5430 chipset octacore CPU Mali T628 MP6. "Samsung Galaxy A8" has 2 GB RAM with 1.3 GHz and it is also available in a dual sim variant where the external SD slot will also work as a sim slot.

Its OS is the 5.1.1 Lollipop w/ TouchWiz UX. It's battery is a good 3050 mAh non removable battery and it also has a fingerprint scanner. Additional features include the FM radio with broadcast recording. What's missing however, it the Samsung Pay, dust/water resistance feature, and the 4K video recording. But overall, the "Samsung Galaxy A8" is still one of the best phones on the market so far.
