Tom Cruise Sells Hollywood Hills Villa for $11.4 million

"Mission: Impossible" action star Tom Cruise just got some realty action. The 53-year-old actor just sold his expansive Hollywood Hills compound, Trulia reports. The estate was originally listed early this year for $12.9 million. Cruise sold it for $11.4 million.

The 2.5-acre compound, which sits proudly on a hill, is actually two combined properties. Design & Trend describes the first property as a "European-style villa," complete with stone floors and wide-planks oak beams in the ceilings. The exterior of the house incorporates floor-to-ceiling glass windows to maximize the magnificent Los Angeles city view outside. It has three bedrooms and five bathrooms. It also boasts of an Italian farmhouse-style kitchen, decked with state-of-the-art equipment.

The second, smaller house only has 1,742 square feet of space, but has more room for guests. It has seven bedrooms, each one with its own en suite. The two houses are connected by stone driveways and walking paths.

From the outside, the property looks and feels like a lavish vacation resort. There is a lagoon-shaped heated pool, a spa, and waterfalls. There is also a provision for either a wine cellar or tasting room. The whole estate is guarded by tall gates and a private entrance, perfect for a celebrity like Tom Cruise, or a private new owner.

According to Trulia, Cruise bought the first property in 2005 for $9.85 million. A few months after, he acquired the adjacent house for $1.8 million. At his selling price of $11.4 million, the actor even lost $250,000.

Hopefully, Cruise will have more luck with the two other houses he has also listed on the market quite recently. His 300-acre Colorado estate is listed at $59 million, and the 10,286-square-foot Beverly Hills mansion he shared with ex-wife Katie Homes is priced at $50 million.
