Microsoft Band 2.0 Leaked: Specs, Price and Expected Announcement Date

There have been rumors that a second generation Microsoft band is going to look quite like the Samsung Gear Fit. Moreover, some are also speculating that the new Microsoft band will be unveiled at the big New York Microsoft launch event on Oct. 6. To date, Microsoft has not given out any word yet.

According to PC Advisor, based on the render of the Spanish site Microsoft Insider, the second generation band from Microsoft resembles the Samsung Gear Fit which means that it will sport a curved OLED display. However, Microsoft might go with the traditional LCD screen. It is said that the new band possibly has noted the criticism of its unbending strap, therefore word has it that the tech giant has improved this part of the band. Also, more sensors will be added to boost the features that the first Microsoft band already has.

Part of the rumored specs is the band's ability to measure the heart rate. According to PC Advisor, if the render is accurate, the two silver circles on the strap would be electrodes to serve such function. On the other hand, there are also speculations that Microsoft will chose to use an optical system similar to Fitbit. The new Microsoft band is rumored to be able to track flights of stairs though many may find this unnecessary. And like its predecessor, the new Microsoft Band will track sleep, steps and calories.

Meanwhile, another source said that Band 2.0 might be thinner although the thick clasp is suggesting a thicker look. But perhaps the best thing rumored about the upcoming Microsoft band is that it will be available worldwide. The first band was only limited to the U.S. and the U.K. markets, according to pc-tablet.com. And with the features stated above, one might be looking at a price of about $ $199, just similar to the first Microsoft Band.
