"The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 recently released a new poster for its upcoming installment. In the poster, Ian Somerhalder's Damon Salvatore and Paul Wesley's Stefan could be seen leaving Mystic Falls. Fans were reportedly a bit surprised to see this image because they all know that the two male characters are not very good at leaving their home behind.
Meanwhile, there are rumors that Damon and Stefan will choose to temporarily depart Mystic Falls, especially since the Heretics are taking over their place. However, their friends Caroline (Candice Accola), Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Matt (Zach Roerig) will talk them out of their decision. For the three friends, Damon and Stefan leaving Mystic Falls means that the place will become even more at risk of being manipulated by the Heretics.
On the poster released by The CW are the words, "Heartbreak is Eternal."
In other news, TV Line revealed that Damon's scenes in the upcoming premiere episode will be heartbreaking to watch. During Season 6' finale episode, Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) decided to go on a lengthy slumber. In real life, the actress revealed that she will no longer return to the series. With this, fans can expect to see Damon mourning Elena's demise. The character will also resort to excessive drinking and partying.
However, executive producer Caroline Dries clarified that Damon wouldn't hook up with women, at least not in the first few episodes of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 7.
In an interview with TV Guide, Dries said, "He is not ready to hook up; let's be clear about that! He's drinking and having a wild time, but he is widely affected by the loss of Elena. He's never going to not be about Elena, so this first chapter is life after Elena. He's trying to struggle with, 'How do I do right by Elena and still be myself?'"
"The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 will premiere on The CW on Oct. 8.
