Nineties it-girl and supermodel Kate Moss can add another job in her resume: interior designer. She proves that her training in the fashion industry has given her a great sense of style, not only in clothes but in homes as well. Elle Decor reports that Moss has recently designed a home for The Lakes by Yoo, a complex of luxury vacation homes in England.
The model's project, which she named "The Barnhouse," is a five-bedroom family house. Its one acre land is secluded in a private woodland, and Moss took inspiration of its surroundings to create a beautiful country cottage. "The Barnhouse," with its earthy tones, looks like it's taken from a page of a Jane Austen novel.
Yoo describes it like "stumbling across a hidden gem in the midst of the forest." For Moss, it's a "luxurious haven in the woods," perfect for private retreats with family and friends.
Inside, the furniture pieces and key elements show off Moss' signature style: clean but edgy, grungy yet glam. She tapped David Haddock, a West Country local craftsman who also built her dressing room in her own London home, to create bespoke furniture for the house: a custom-built dining table with bench seatings, a mirror-covered four-poster bed, and a TV cabinet with a quirky thunderbolt design.
Because the house is built as a vacation home, Moss used an open concept layout, with the kitchen extending into the living area. Huge glass windows bring in the view from the outside, and also provide the house with natural lighting. Moss chose colorful rugs and couches--in aquamarine and mustard--as accents to the warm palettes of the house.
Yoo chairman John Hitchcox said, "'The Barnhouse interiors by Kate Moss' is a home that offers the exclusivity of privacy as an indulgence worth treasuring. Careful consideration has gone into creating a balance between luxury and function, keeping the emotion of a comfortable country family home central to the environment of the property."
"The Barnhouse" is now open for sale, listed at £2.5 million, or roughly $3.8 million.
