Blackberry 'Priv' Features, Specs Comparison with Samsung Galaxy S6, LG G4 and Moto X 2014

BlackBerry confirmed the release of an Android slider phone called "Priv" this year, with the hope of attracting many customers. But the new device will be on stiff competition with Samsung Galaxy S6, LG G4 and Moto X 2014.

It was rumored that the Priv is estimated to feature a 5.4-inch QHD screen with 2,560 x 1,440 QHD pixels resolution. Meanwhile, Galaxy S6 will come with a 5.1-inch display, the LG G4 has a 5.5-inch screen and Moto X 2014 comes with a 5.2-inch display. Both the Samsung and LG handsets have the same pixels as the Priv, while the Motorola phone has 1,920 x 1080 pixels resolution, Tech Times reported.

The BlackBerry Priv and the LG G4 are powered by hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset. On the other hand, Galaxy S6 is an octa-core Exynos 7420 processor clocked at 2.1GHz while Moto X 2014 features a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor.

Talking about camera, Galaxy S6 and the LG G4 are both equipped with a 16MP rear-facing camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) for reducing blurring of images. Galaxy S6 has a 5MP front-facing camera and the LG G4 has an 8MP front camera.

The Moto X 2014 has a 13MP rear camera without OIS and a 2MP front camera while BlackBerry Priv gets an 18MP rear-facing camera with OIS and a 5MP selfie camera, which is better among the others.

As of this posting, Priv hasn't announced its storage options yet but it was rumored to have 3GB RAM. As for 3GB of RAM Galaxy S6, it is available in 32GB/64GB/128GB internal storage options, without a microSD card slot.

The LG G4 with 3GB RAM has a 32GB on-board storage, allowing its users to expand its memory to 3TB with a microSD card. The Moto X 2014 is available in 16GB/32GB/64GB internal storage versions with a 2GB of RAM.

The operating system is an important consideration. Hence, Galaxy S6 comes with Android 5.0 Lollipop; LG G4 has Android 5.1 Lollipop and the Moto X 2014 with Android 4.4 KitKat. Priv will be the first BlackBerry handset to run Android with a pre-installed Android 5.1 Lollipop.

Formerly dubbed BlackBerry Venice, the new BlackBerry Priv features impressive specs that may be appealing to customers. It also boasts a slider mechanism called "Smart Slider," Mobile Syrup reported.
