Nina Dobrev Confirms That She "Refuses" To Return To The Vampire Diaries

Nina Dobrev has confirmed that she has refused to return as Elena Gilbert in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 7.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Nina may have left the show already but she will definitely watch the return of "The Vampire Diaries" on Oct. 8. Nina said, "I can't wait to see what the new season will look like, I'll be watching. I'm very excited for my friends."

However, she made one thing clear that she will not be returning to TVD, "That chapter is closed, sadly - bittersweet," she says.

During "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 finale, Nina's character, Elena, was cursed to stay asleep for as long as her best friend Bonnie, played by Kat Graham, still lives. Well, that spell means there's still hope that the actress would come back to reprise her role. Fans are hoping that Nina will return to bring back Elena since part of cast and show runners have been teasing for Dobrev's possible come back.

In July, MTV News had the chance to talk to the cast of "The Vampire Diaries" and Candice Accola said, "I think that's what's fun about this series. You never know when characters are going to leave, you never know when they're going to come back. That's been a constant for six seasons, now. So the fact that, for such a big departure, that it is left open-ended, is really true to the show."

However, Celebrity Dirty Laundry reported that Nina seems to be desperate to take her career to another level and wants to take on movie roles. At the same time, she also wants to get rid of her past that involves her love triangle with ex-boyfriend Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed.

During the 2015 Teen Choice Awards, Nina said, "Change. It's a scary word, or I used to think that, because it meant new beginnings. New beginnings with a future that was unknown. But change is necessary. Necessary for you to grow up and learn and to better yourself, because everything in life comes to an end."
