"The Big Bang Theory" star Kaley Cuoco is currently faced with marital woes, both in her personal and professional lives.
In real life, the actress divorced her husband Ryan Sweeting on September 3. They were married to each other for only 21 months. Meanwhile, on the CBS show, Cuoco's character Penny is struggling with her recent marriage to Leonard (Johnny Galecki).
According to US Weekly, unlike Cuoco's real-life marriage, Penny and Leonard do not have any plans of divorcing each other anytime soon. However, the couple is currently faced with an issue after Leonard confessed to Penny that he kissed a woman named Mandy (Michelle Tang).
In Season 9 episode 2, Leonard got to talk to Mandy who obviously didn't have any care in the world that she kissed Leonard. However, Penny can't seem to forget about her husband's infidelity. This is why on their first night together as a married couple, Penny and Leonard stayed in each other's former homes and didn't live together.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Steve Molaro revealed that living arrangements will be another issue that the couple will face in Season 9.
"Living arrangements are definitely going to be confronted in the first four episodes. It's tricky, sure - Leonard and Penny need to move forward, but at the same time we have a broken-hearted Sheldon (Jim Parsons), who is sort of their little brother and child and it's tough to ignore that for them," he said.
Meanwhile, "The Big Bang Theory" Season 9 will air its third episode next week, and it will feature Leonard's bachelor party that will go wrong. According to the official synopsis released by CBS, Sheldon, Raj, Howard and Leonard will get themselves into trouble in "The Bachelor Party Corrosion."
"The Big Bang Theory" Season 9 airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
