'Brokur', a brand new real estate search website has debuted in the market with hopes of creating a "dating site for real estate". However, the match-making is not focused on the romance between real estate professionals but more enthused about matching prospective home buyers with the right brokers.
Brokur is a new real estate website, which has a fresh approach towards the whole process of home searching. The website is based on the social media concept where the main focus is on the brokers and not the listings. It is a directory that connects buyers with real estate agents that match their search criteria.
The current trend that is prevailing in the market is: buyers flock listing websites; search the best listings available and then contact the agent. Broker hopes to change this trend and instead turn the tide in favor of the brokers.
According to Ryan Shear, founder of Brokur, most of the times when customers contact a broker, they find out that the listing is inactive and somehow end up working with that agent anyway.
"Most buyers end up with a broker they shouldn't wind up with," Shear said in an interview with Inman.com.
This is exactly what Brokur aims at changing. It allows the user/buyer to specify details of a home search and pulls out brokers whose listings match the search criteria. Shear also adds that the website gives a richer social experience and a much interesting search experience.
So far, the website has around 23,000 indexed brokers. It sources agent information from listing Syndicator, ListHub. However, the brokers must confirm their profiles and fill in the mandatory fields. The interface of the site resembles 'Twitter' a lot. Brokers can follow other brokers, post photos and videos of listings and homes, comment and repost the content as well. Currently, Brokurs is free, but once the site picks up, a minimum charge may be applicable, reports Inman.com.
