Ever since the "Windows 10" has been launched, Microsoft has been accused of monitoring your every move as you use the latest Windows update. This monitoring allegations included your keyboard strokes, stylus input, and even your location data. These stalking threats created a controversy that put the Microsoft company on the hot seat.
Microsoft's Defense
Because of these "Windows 10" spying accusations, Microsoft finally spoke up to clarify everything. In a post, the company's VP Terry Myerson explained that they do collect information, but it was also highlighted that the users control which information will be shared. And if you are concerned about the info that has been acquired by Microsoft, the company explains that the said info "is encrypted in transit to their servers, and then stored in secure facilities.
What Data Is Gathered
Device IDs and crashes are collected. Myerson also added that information about the files from the devices are safe from the being gathered. This means that no data can be used to identify users. "Windows 10" also does its best to assist your needs based on the information you share. Meaning, when it aims to learn more about you so it can assist you better, they have to gather information to give you a full experience. Myerson defended this type of data gathering, "Note that with new features like Cortana, which require more personal information to deliver the full experience, you are asked if you want to turn them on and are given additional privacy customization options,"
Also, Myerson made a total defense about its advertisements, saying that they do not scan the content of your device and emails just so they can determine which ad to show you. The post uploaded by Microsoft may not have answered every question their "Windows 10" users have, but it's good to know that they are aware of the issue and that they are polite enough to address it.
