Shoe King Steve Madden Lists New York Townhouse for $8.9 Million

Footwear Juggernaut, Steve Madden has reportedly listed his New York townhouse on the open market with a price tag of $8.9 million.

Located between Lexington and Third Avenue, the Italian townhouse is one of the two survivors of six townhouses that sat in a row on the lane. The five story home was purchased by Madden and his wife Wendy in parts. The first transaction was made in September 2006, when the couple purchased the lower unit. Three years later, they purchased the second and third floor units and the next year they scooped up the fourth and fifth floor duplexes, reports Real Estalker.

All the transactions added up to around $7.7 Million and now after slowly adding floors and building the unit for the past seven years, the home is up for grabs!

The home has quite the "cobbler" history. According to the New York Observer, it was owned by a blacksmith, who made "horse-shoes" and then Madden; another "shoe-maker" took over the home!

According to the listing and the floor plan, the home is a 20 feet wide townhouse with a basement and five upper floors.

The entrance of the home opens into the garden level unit. The unit has a large living room, a master bedroom, a wet bar and a dressing room with huge walk in closets. The second floor is a duplex parlor floor. A narrow foyer opens into a large dining room and a modern kitchen. Upstairs, there is another dining room and an open terrace as well. The third floor has four bedrooms and two large luxury bathrooms. While, two large living rooms and another kitchen complete the fourth floor, the fifth level has two large bedrooms, a small office space and two large open terraces.

The basement has large storage spaces, a big office with an attached bathroom and a huge closet as well.

Recently, Madden and wife welcomed their third baby girl, Goldie Ryan Madden on Friday, March 8. Maybe with the arrival of the new baby, they want to move into a nicer and newer place, which perhaps has a better "cobbler" history!
