"Fifty Shades of Gray" Jamie Dornan has expressed his support to save the historic, 19th century Castle Toward in Scotland. The castle is reportedly being planned to be sold off privately, and a campaign to save the property has been initiated.
According to Daily Record, the actor, who plays the controversial Christian Gray in the "Fifty Shades of Gray (FSOG)" franchise, has "put his weight behind the Castle Toward estate by donning one of their shirts." Dornan reportedly believes that the historic structure represents the artistic community of the UK.
"Castle Toward has inspired countless generations of young people. To see it close its doors would be a huge loss to the artistic community of the UK," he said, as quoted by the aforementioned site.
The same report states that a campaign to save Castle Toward has been set up, and it calls on the owner of the property to restore the structure "to be the flourishing hub for youth arts and sport that it once was."
Dornan is not the only celebrity that supports the initiative to save Castle Toward. The National reports that "Terminator 2" actor Robert Patrick also joined the said campaign to keep the 19th century property.
"After recently visiting Scotland and seeing my ancestral home, I am emboldened to say that Castle Toward should be protected and preserved for future generations," he said in a statement to the campaign's organizers.
Castle Toward is perched over the Firth of Clyde to the Isles of Bute and Arran. Throughout the years, it has served as a hub for music, art, history and education in Scotland.
In other news, Dornan has recently put his Cotswold cottage for sale for £500,000. The said house is where he lived with his wife Amelia and her daughter Dulcie. Dornan will be seen in the "FSOG" sequel, "Fifty Shades Darker," which will premiere on Feb. 10, 2017.
