Pippa Dropped by Literary Agent Following Poor Sales from First Book

Pippa Middleton has been dropped by her literary agent, a report announced Friday.

Kate Middleton's sister has ended her short-lived partnership with David Godwin following poor book sales from her party planning book. Literary guru Godwin masterminded the deal with Penguin that saw the Duchess of Cambridge's younger sister pocket an estimated £400,000 advance from publisher Michael Joseph, according to the Daily Mail.

The book was offered party tips, recipes and entertaining advice. But when the book failed to make the best-seller lists, despite her obvious royal connection, things turned a little sour.

One industry insider has revealed, "Theirs was a tricky relationship" referring to Pippa and David Godwin. The source added, "David was not an obvious choice for Pippa. His writers are heavyweights while Pippa's niche is fluffy and commercial. In the end it was clear the union was not a happy one."
Pippa's book, "Celebrate: A Year of British Festivities for Families and Friends" was expected to be a hit given her new celebrity status. But not only did the book get questionable reviews, it also only managed to sell 2,000 copies in its first week on the market.

Godwin's parting statement from the royal sister-in-law said he was "very sorry it has happened, but yes, it is true: I no longer represent Pippa and I wish her very good luck."

However Pippa's literary career is far from being over. Starting in April she will write a column called "Pippa's Friday Night Feasts" for Waitrose Kitchen magazine.
