The 32-year-old MMA Fighter Nick Diaz has been making the headlines as he's still under a 5-year suspension. Diaz was suspended from fighting inside the octagon by NSAC [Nevada State Athletic Commission] for having positive results in a post-match drug test last January.
He may be going through suspension, but the White House backed him up. As per MMA Junkie an individual under the name of T.C. from Boaz, Ala started a petition online which was entitled: "Lift the NSCA ban from MMA Fighter Nick Diaz." The petition was released on September 14, which gathered 63,065 signatures. It needs 100,000 signatures in a month's time and with only a week and a half, they're still 36,935 signatures short.
Just yesterday, Fox News published a report stating that Nevada State's government does not want to "second guess" the state commission's process in ruling Diaz's case.
Mari St. Martin, the governor's communication's manager released a statement in regards to the issue stating:
"The Governor puts great thought into his appointments and has an expectation that his appointees will represent the state with integrity and serve as fair and impartial members of their respective board or commission, the Nevada State Athletic Commission has sole jurisdiction over licensing of its contestants. The Governor's Office monitors all board and commissions to ensure they are in compliance with state law but does not second guess individual rulings within the boundaries of statutory authority."
Diaz may have been of the cage but the fighter is worth millions. As per The Celebrity Net Worth website, the MMA fighter has a total net worth of $3 million. Diaz's fighting career has been successful all throughout the years. He first started fighting as a professional in 2001. He may have been suspended but Diaz still has endorsements and speaking fees to have him covered.
