Apple iPhone 7 Rumors & Release Date: Device to Feature ‘Foldable Design’ and Gesture-Based Password, New Patents Reveal

With the recent release of Apple's iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, Apple fans and smartphone users are now looking forward to the release of iPhone 7. It is said that the new iteration of iPhone will be released in September next year, and various specs rumors have already surfaced. According to reports, Apple's new patents reveal that the iPhone 7 will boast a "foldable design" and gesture-based password.

Phone Arena reports that the Cupertino tech giant has been recently awarded a patent for a "foldable design." This is reportedly similar to the new curved display of Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. The "glass wraparound design" will reportedly make the contents on the "foldable" screen appear as if they're on a continuous loop and are flowing freely on the device. The said design will reportedly allow the iPhone 7 to display more content than any other smartphone in the current market.

According to International Business Times, the iPhone 7 will also feature a new gesture technology for password entry. This will allow owners to enter password through mere gestures, aside from the usual alphanumeric passcode or fingerprint scan.

"An authentication gesture entry screen is displayed to allow a user to enter a desired gesture via an array of visible and/or invisible touch sensing areas displayed on a touch sensitive display," Patently Apple said.

Meanwhile, it was also previously reported that another patent suggests that the new iPhone will be waterproof. The recent video of iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus' waterproof test, which recently made the rounds online, further strengthened claims that Apple may incorporate such feature in the iPhone 7.

So far, none of the reports have been confirmed by the tech giant, and eager Apple fans may have to wait for almost a year to find out what the Apple iPhone 7 can offer to users. iPhone 7 is reportedly slated for release in Sept. 2016.
