A Kitchen is sometimes referred to as the heart of the home. Initially, kitchens were boring - just cooking and cleaning up. However, as the era of interior decoration took over home designs, kitchens have become a more interesting place.
Now, Kitchens have a much larger outlook. there are cosy corners/nooks for breakfast some are even designed to allow informal settings and are now used to dine-in and even entertain guests.
The Design Industry Foundation Fighting Aids (DIFFA) recently held its annual charity event, Dining By Design, which celebrated its sixteenth anniversary. The event featured some of the most interesting and awe-inspiring tabletops designed by industry heavyweights.
The event was sponsored by the New York Design Center, New York Times, Interior Design Magazine, Manhattan Magazine and Architectural Digest. The exhibition was held at the Architectural Digest Home Design Show, which is still on at Pier 94 on the West Side Highway, Manhattan.
The exhibition saw unveiling of 40 exclusive tabletop designs, conjured by some of the illustrious names of the industry. James Magni, Aerin Lauder and Thom Filicia are some of the designers featured. In 2012, DIFFA raised around $650,000. This year, they expect to raise a better amount. View the tabletops here.
