A 41-year-old man stabbed a 16-year-old girl who is now in critical condition, along with two other men at a Pittsburgh Target store late on Monday.
Leon Raymond Walls, who was described as homeless by several local media outlets, was arrested after several men confronted him and tried to hold him down. Police later used pepper spray to stop the suspect and placed him under arrest. He is currently in custody.
The unidentified girl suffered a punctured lung and was taken into surgery, police said Tuesday. There's no evidence Walls knew the girl.
The high school student had a collapsed lung and several stab wounds in the back and her arms. Reports say the suspect had fled into the Target after fighting with others outside of the store, though his reason for the sudden stabbings is still unclear. Walls then allegedly slashed the two men who had chased him.
Walls was unable to post $250,000 bond, court records show, and no home address or attorney was listed for him.
