It is totally sensible to think that a successful TV series would one day hit the big screen, as we have seen such trend with a few titles. That is most likely why there have been rumors that there is going to be a "Game of Thrones" movie.
According to Design and Trend, on Sept. 27 British tabloid "Daily Star" was said to have started these rumors when it published a report claiming that a "Game of Thrones" film was hitting the theaters soon. Moreover the tabloid even added a quote allegedly from George R.R. Martin as saying, "There will be a movie but I will not be involved. I have too much to do. That is something HBO and ... DB [Weiss] and David [Benioff] are dealing with."
Unfortunately, these reports of a "Game of Thrones" movie are not true. According to Huffington, Martin's assistant wrote an email saying that the statement attributed to the author of Daily Star article, which were allegedly made at the HBO's Emmy after-party, are "not direct quotes." And the 67-year old writer also addressed the rumors himself. In an email, he reportedly told HuffPost "There's been talk about it. I'd love to see one, but nothing is decided."
Martin aslo admitted in a comment on his LiveJournal that these rumors are not true, saying, "No one is working on any movie just now. And if there was a movie, it would not be about Robert's Rebellion."
The author of the book himself has made it clear that no one is making a "Game of Thrones" movie for now. But based on his statement, he has not closed the door on the possibility of making one. What only seems possible right now, according to Huffington Post, is the that the "Game of Thrones" TV series might run for at least seven or eight seasons.
What are your thoughts about a possible GoT film? Would it work on the big screen as much as it did on the small one?
