'Bridget Jones Baby' Update & Release Date: Production Already Started

To all "Bridget Jones" followers, the long wait is almost over because Bridget Jones is officially coming back. It has been reported by PEOPLE that Renee Zellweger already begun the production of "Bridget Jones Baby."

Universal shared on Twitter last Friday the first image of Renee in character as Bridget. The caption says, "Bridget Jones's Baby has started filming."

According to PEOPLE, reps from Universal Pictures confirmed to them last month the third instalment of "Bridget Jones" will start filming in the U.K on Oct. 2. It has been also reported that Sharon Maguire who directed "Bridget Jones's Diary" in 2001 will once again be sitting on the director's chair for this latest instalment.

Last Sept. 15, Renee was spotted taking an afternoon stroll at the same time making errands in London, as shared by PEOPLE. She's been in town for a couple of weeks already before the movie started filming.

Renee is ready to reprise her famous role and take on her British accent once again. This latest movie came 11 years after the first sequel which was shown in theatre last 2004.

In this upcoming movie another American actor joined the power cast and it is non-other than Patrick Dempsey. One of the reps from the film confirmed to PEOPLE that this is Dempsey's first role after he left Grey Anatomy. Meanwhile, Mark Darcy, Bridget's long-suffering boyfriend is also back and will still be played by Colin Firth.

The plot of the upcoming film may still be a secret but in this third instalment, Bridget reportedly will find out that she is pregnant. However, the identity of the father is still a mystery.

The movie will still be based on Helen Fielding's writings and it is said to fill the gap between "Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason" and her 2013 book "Mad About the Boy."

"Bridget Jones's Baby" will be out in theaters on Sept. 16, 2016.
