Sadie Robertson is moving on from reality TV to the big screen as she joins the cast of "I'm Not Ashamed," a film about the 1999 Columbine school massacre.
The movie will tell the story of Rachel Joy Scott, 17, a devout Christian and the first student killed in the shooting. Scott got the world's attention when she reportedly told the killers she believed in God prior to being shot. According to CNS News, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold knew her personally and shared her faith in Jesus. They allegedly asked her, pointing the gun at her head, "Do you still believe in your God?" She replied, "You know that I do."
The "Dancing With the Stars" and "Duck Dynasty" star Sadie Robertson will play as Scott's cousin who was responsible for Scott's conversion to Christianity, CNS News reported. Sadie reportedly was first offered the lead role as Rachel Joy Scott. However, Sadie didn't feel she is ready for that but she wanted to be part of the film. Masey McLain got the role instead.
Sadie's sister, Bella Robertson, and their mother, Korie Robertson, are also in the cast. They will play as Scott's cousin and aunt, respectively.
This is going to be Sadie's debut to the big screen, having been seen only in reality TV. Examiner.com said it would be an adjustment to portray a role from just showing off her charming personality on TV. She needs some transformation and pull it off.
Well, for producer Chuck Howard of Big Film Factory, "All of the 'Duck Dynasty' people, they're really incredible." He further told The Washington Times, "They really are what you see."
The title "I'm Not Ashamed" was drawn from Rachel's writings. The film is slated to be released on April 20, 2016.
