Home Decoration Tips for Easter 2013 (VIDEO)

Christians around the world are preparing for one of the most important festivals, Easter! The festival is synonymous with hope, spring, eggs and bunnies.

If you have not already made big plans for a huge Easter brunch and "Easter-egg-and-bunny-activities", here are some quick ideas compiled from customs all over the world to help you give an international touch to your Easter celebration:

Easter lamps:

In Cyprus, a special Easter custom is to light a fire. Young boys gather scrap wood and compete with neighboring communities on who can light a bigger fire. However, setting your home on fire is definitely not a suggestion! To bring in the Cypriot custom subtly, you can pick up small or big, cute lamps available in various shapes, sizes and colors or make some yourself. Check out some interesting lamp ideas here.

Easter Eggs:

Of course Easter is all about colorful, designed eggs. Easter egg symbolizes the empty tomb of Jesus Christ and eternal life. Though this is one of the most prevalent tradition all around the world, decorating styles differ in various countries. In Germany, colorful eggs are hung by ribbons on tree branches. If you can have a Christmas tree, why not try having an "Easter tree" as well? Check out some "Easter tree" ideas here.

Easter Bells:

The Easter Bell tradition belongs to France, Belgium and Netherlands. All the church bells are silent for a day or two before Easter for mourning. According to the custom, people say that the bells fly out of their steeples to explain their silence to Rome and return on Easter morning, joyously ringing than ever before and bearing gifts like "Easter bunnies, chocolates and eggs". You can use the bells to decorate the doors, the windows, or like a chandelier on top of your "Easter Brunch" table. Check out some funky Easter bells here.
