Matt Damon: "It was Painful" to be Ben Affleck's Friend During His Romance with J.Lo

Matt Damon and Ben Affleck have been friends for the longest time. They're known to be one of Hollywood's best bromance and won an Oscar together after writing "Good Will Hunting." The duo also co-started and produced a documentary series "Project Greenlight."

As per the Today website, Matt Damon spoke about his relationship with Ben Affleck during the time of his breakup with Jenifer Lopez in his interview with The Hollywood Reporter for his most recent film, "The Martian."

"There's nobody who's more misunderstood than Ben, ten years ago, the public image of him could not have been farther apart from who he actually is."

He then added:

"It was like he was being cast in a role, that he was a talentless kind of meathead, with his whole relationship with Jennifer Lopez, he just got cast as this person that he wasn't. It was painful to be his friend, because it wasn't fair, you know? To my mind, nobody really got him at all. Through his work, he climbed from the bottom of the mountain all the way back up to the top and past where either of us had ever been"

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez have been together for quite some time. They started dating back in 2002 while working together on "Gigli." They then got engaged on the same year.

Just this year, Ben Affleck made the headlines as he got himself into a sticky situation after being rumored to be cheating on his wife Jennifer Garner with their children's nanny Christine Ouzounian.

Amidst their divorce however, both Ben and Jen have been doing great in terms of parenting. They were spotted numerous times together after the duo filed the divorce. As per Pop Sugar, just last Sunday, the couple was spotted on LA with their children Violet, Seraphina and Samuel as they bought something from the farmers market. They were also spotted outside the church while making their way into the car with a big smile on their faces.
