October 2015 marks the time of celebration of the personal landmarks in America that are close to an American's heart. #ThisPlaceMatters is the social campaign that is being cooked by National Trust for Historic Preservation and Curbed.com which highlights the most beloved places across the nation.
The Commission and Curbed are looking forward to the readers in submitting their photos of the places that have marked in their hearts, preserved or not, on social networking sites such as Instagram or Twitter by using the Hashtag #thisplacematters.
The photos will be collected and be part of the crowdsourcing campaign to spotlight remarkable places across US. The purpose is to show the world and explain the reason why Americans love their neighborhood, cities and towns.
In connection, it will help some small communities or towns to share to the greater America the beauty of their place. Because just like every American lives matter, the place that molded those lives also matter. It will not only be part of the preservation advocacy only, but of the tourism campaign for less known places, too.
The mechanics of the campaign is as simple as sharing a photo of any structure or scenery that matters to the person sharing. It could be the downtown store, the movie theatre or just a sign across states.
To participate, you will need to print out a drop pin sign and include it in your photo, selfie or groufie. Then share your photo on social media with a little description why the certain place matters to you and include the Hashtag #thisplacematters. And if you were not able to print the pin, your photo will still be important parts of the campaign.
This event will not only let the world know the beauty of the America, it will also awaken the deep bond of its people to his or her surroundings.
Would you join the bandwagon?
