On Tuesday, a video was posted on the YouTube Channel of Ubisoft, which reportedly teased a new game. The live stream video shows "a man holding a bow in one hand and a large spear in the other. The embers of a fire can be seen flitting in front of the image," a report from Gamespot said.
"In addition to this, eerie music, the sounds of growling beasts, and ritualistic chanting can be heard in the background. There is also what sounds like normal speech, but there's a layered echo effect on the audio, which makes it difficult to make out what's being said. The video is slowly zooming out to reveal more of the painting, so keep an eye on it," the report said, describing Ubisoft's mysterious video.
Although there are insufficient details on what particular game Ubisoft is developing right now, avid fans and die-hard players speculate that the footage is likely a new "Far Cry" game, due to familiar gaming elements seen in the video such as the bow and arrow and a "hunting gameplay."
Ubisoft's announcement video includes a description that reads, "Survival is timeless." Fans believe that the word "survival" points directly to the "Far Cry" franchise as it has been the major theme of the game.
"So what game is this? Ubisoft wouldn't announce a new Assassin's Creed this close to the release of Assassin's Creed Syndicate; can't have another game taking the focus off that one. And we're guessing it's safe to rule out another Tom Clancy franchise. A theory floating around on Twitter suggests that there have been rumors of a prehistoric edition of Far Cry, or perhaps a DLC for Far Cry 4 set in prehistoric times. Could this be it?" Tech Times said.
PC Gamers reports that Ubisoft's video announcement was actually revealed "unintentionally" and it tagged the game as "Far Cry Primal." "The post itself is gone, but the tweet remains, along with an image that bears, to my mind at least, a more-than-passing resemblance to the bizarre Zeno Clash," the writer of the report said.
